Rotary's 105th Birthday

105 Years Young

Rotary International celebrated its 105th birthday on February 23, 2010. Just for the record, Paul Harris and three friends met in Room 711 of the Unity Building, in Chicago, Ill., USA. Paul Harris then unfolded his general plan for a club. Out of this simple beginning sprang the world's first international service organization, which has now grown to include more than 1.2 million members in over 33,000 clubs.

The Rotary Club of Dundas noted the occasion of the 105th anniversary, by requesting waitress Sarah Miller to bake a cake of suitable size, decoration and nutritional value for our meeting on the 23rd.

As Rotary marks February World Understanding Month,it is useful to reflect on the oft asked question, “What is Rotary.” President John Kenny in the February edition of the Rotarian states, “It is a network of people who care - people who are both realists and optimists ...we also recognize our abilities and our responsibility to use them to the fullest.”
